Soggy Bottom

Patrick and I were on the road again. This time, we were in Roanoke, Virginia to check out the trails at Carvin’s Cove. Our only real problem was how wet it was. It had been raining pretty hard for the last 24 hours or so, and it wasn’t getting any cooler.

The Carvin’s Cove Reservoir was dammed in the 1930s as a local water supply and stands today as Virginia’s largest conservation easement.

It cost us a few bucks to leave the truck, but the park isn’t without amenities. They work hard to maintain their trail system and there is even a small repair station at the entrance! We braved the humidity and brutal climbs and set out on our quest for new dirt.
